US World Cup star Christian Coleman out of the Olympics

Noah Lyles of the United States broke his own record in the men’s 100 meters. Christian Coleman, who won the World Championship gold in 2019, was left without an Olympic place.

In the ongoing US championships, the country’s Olympic athletes are decided for the athletics in Paris. He ran to victory in the men’s 100 meters Noah Lyles with a time of 9.83. The result, which was run more than two meters downwind, is close to Lyles’ own record.

Lyles won the 100 and 200 meters at the World Championships in Budapest last summer and was on the gold-winning men’s relay team. The USA will compete for the 200m Olympic spots later.

In Eugene, Oregon, in the 100 meters, the Olympic places were also redeemed Kenny Bednarek with a time of 9.87 and Fred Kerley with a time of 9.88.

2019 World Champion Christian Coleman was fourth with a time of 9.93 and missed out on an Olympic place at the same time. The time was Coleman’s season best in the 100 meters.

In the winter, Coleman ran to victory in the WC indoor competitions. At the Tokyo Olympics, Coleman did not compete due to a doping violation.

16-year-old Quincy Wilson improved his own under-18 world record in the 400 meters and made it to the final. Wilson ran a time of 44.59 in the heats. He was third in his heat by Bryce Deadmon 44,44 and by Vernon Norwood 44.50 after.
