The United States will announce a new arms package to Ukraine on Friday, consisting mainly of ammunition, said John Kirby, a spokesman for the US National Security Council.
“It will mostly include ammunition and munitions that Ukrainians will need for the systems they already have,” says Kirby.
The package includes, among other things, vehicles with portable bridge systems, artillery shells and rockets for the Himars rocket artillery system, according to US defense sources. It is valued at around 400 million dollars, equivalent to 4.2 billion kroner.
The announcement of the aid package will coincide with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visiting the White House.
