US Senate votes down billion package to Ukraine

The proposal, which would involve aid of just over 60 billion dollars to Ukraine, was presented as a bill for a total of 118 billion dollars. It included, among other things, $14 billion to Israel, humanitarian aid to Gaza, aid to war refugees and money to strengthen the US’s southern border.

The package was voted down by 49 votes to 50, and at least 60 votes were required to pass.

The Democrats are now moving forward with trying to get through an aid package that only includes Ukraine.
