The US Embassy has sent a letter to a number of Danish companies stating that the United States will now tighten the grip on its suppliers, this reports Danish dr. They now demand that Danish companies sign a declaration stating that companies have no rules that benefit minorities.
The requirement, which has also been sent to companies in, among others, France, is part of Donald Trumps Effort against companies and organizations’ diversity work, which he believes is illegal and goes against American values.
The letter urges the Danish companies to sign that they do not have special programs that promote diversity, equality and inclusion. This is because the US embassy claims it would violate US law.
According to Søren Friis Larsen At the Danish Chamber of Commerce, the letter is very vaguely formulated, which has caused doubt among the Danish companies.
– And I actually think that is also part of the intention. There is a bit of a scare campaign from the US about this, Friis Larsen tells Dr.
Danish industry also distances itself from the letters and thinks it is sad that Trump’s administration attacks the diversity of the Danish company in this way. But they also fear that there may be indications that there may be legislation that the Danish companies may be forced to follow.
A recommendation given earlier is that Danish companies should continue their work for diversity, but that they should reduce the use of the word diversity.
– We recommend that you stick to the values you have as a company and do not go the other way. It is a bit of a balancing act, much is about the very practical aspects of what words you use to describe things, and you can come a long way if you have some flexibility here, says Søren Friis Larsen.
