Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, unnamed US officials made evaluations about the deadly drone attack on the US base.
Officials stated that they concluded that the failure to intercept a one-way UAV launched from Iraq towards the US base on the Syria-Jordan border was due to the confusion caused by another US UAV returning to the base at the same time.
Officials pointed out that the return of a US UAV to the base while an enemy UAV was approaching its target made it difficult to distinguish between “enemy and friend” and noted that investigations into the attack were continuing.
On the other hand, a US defense official also shared the information that the US has not found any evidence that Iran directed the attack that killed 3 US soldiers and injured 34 others.

US President Joe Biden first announced yesterday, in a written statement from the White House, that 3 US soldiers lost their lives in a one-way drone attack on the US military base on the Jordan-Syria border.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) also reported that 25 people were injured in the attack, and later updated the number of injured to 34.
US officials, especially Biden, held Iran-backed groups responsible for the attack and stated that the attack would be responded to at a time and place chosen by the US.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kenani rejected the allegations that Iran was linked to the attack in question and said, “Resistance forces in the region do not receive instructions from Iran in their decisions and actions.” He used the expression. (AA)
