The United States has imposed an export ban on 140 Chinese companies involved in the production of microchips. This is the third time that export bans have been imposed on Chinese companies.
The goal of the United States is to prevent China from using microchips to develop artificial intelligence that could be used for military purposes and thus undermine the national security of the United States.
US regulations also limit the ability of companies from its partner countries to export their products to China. However, export is allowed to production facilities in the Netherlands and Japan.
