The US envoy on climate issues, John Kerry, is leaving his post shortly, US media reports.

80-year-old Kerry, who has been a senator and secretary of state, was appointed by President Joe Biden shortly after the 2020 election. Kerry was last seen negotiating on behalf of the United States at the UN climate conference, COP28, in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in December.

Kerry was one of the driving forces behind the Paris Agreement against climate change in 2015.
