Murat Kurum attended the 18th GYODER Real Estate Summit. In his speech at the summit, the institution said, “On February 6, we all experienced the greatest disaster, the heaviest test, and the deepest pain seen in our country. We were shaken by two major earthquakes on the same day. 11 of our provinces suffered great destruction. Unfortunately, in all 11 provinces; His voice turned into a cry, his words turned into a wail, and his shoots turned into soil. We lost thousands of lives in the Disaster of the Century, which has never been experienced before in the world. Tens of thousands of our people were left motherless, fatherless and childless. Even though nearly 8 months have passed since this great disaster, our pain has still not subsided. May God have mercy on every soul we lost. May it increase the patience of those left behind. On this occasion, I once again offer my condolences to our nation. May God protect our country from all kinds of disasters.” he said.
“WE STARTED TURKEY’S LARGEST HOUSING MOBILIZATION AND LARGEST DISASTER CONVERSION PROCESS”
Explaining the transformation process carried out after the earthquake, Kurum said, “From the first moment of the earthquake, under the leadership of our President, we have passed the test of being united as a nation, turning into one wrist and one heart, and uniting in the face of a great disaster in these heavy and difficult days. We did not leave our people alone or in despair even for a moment. We became a balm for the pain with patience and the darkness with hope. Believing that even a second wasted would have consequences, we quickly started debris removal work. On the other hand, we laid the foundations for permanent residences. “Together with TOKİ and Emlak Konut, we started Turkey’s largest housing mobilization and the largest disaster transformation process.” said.
Referring to GYODER’s support during the transformation process, Kurum said, “Undoubtedly, one of the biggest supports to this process, this great transformation and the move to revive the earthquake zone is Gyoder, headed by my brother Mehmet Kalyoncu, and dozens of city planners, architects and engineers who volunteered under the roof of Gyoder.” our brothers gave it to us. Our nation has witnessed how devotedly and diligently each of you worked, away from your homes, families and loved ones, from the first moment of the earthquake. May God bless you all, I thank each and every one of you. This historical responsibility that you undertake during the rebuilding and revival of the region will never be forgotten by our nation and our brothers will remember each of you with good and prayer. ” he said.
“WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BY OUR PEOPLE SINCE THE MOMENT THE DISASTERS OCCURRED”
“The state is the servant of its nation,” a historical discourse that our President has reintroduced to Turkish politics. Reminding the saying “The state is the servant of its nation.” As a companion of our President and a soldier of his cause, we worked day and night, dedicating all our strength to the peace and happiness of our nation, regardless of distance or near, without thinking cold or hot. Because, as the poet said; “Laughing means being able to laugh if a people are laughing.” We rushed to the aid of our homeless people with the same faith after the Elazığ, Malatya and İzmir earthquakes, Giresun and Kastamonu flood disasters, and the Great Manavgat Forest Fire. “We have always been there for our people from the moment these disasters occurred.” said.
Explaining his experiences in the earthquake zone, Kurum said, “I witnessed the pain that I will never forget here, the helpless looks of mothers waiting hopefully at the rubble, and the devastation of our people who lost their homes. I witnessed our tradesman brothers in Giresun who watched their shops, which they had opened with great effort throughout their lives, disappear, and our aunts who shed tears for their husbands who were caught in the flood. During the Izmir earthquake, we waited with a sister for a sound coming from the rubble. I witnessed the sadness in the eyes of an elderly couple, whose house was demolished in Malatya, while they were placing them in a container city, but also their blessings for our state and our President. I witnessed the patience, faith and wisdom of our people. But thank God, the dark day does not remain dark. We touched hearts with the merciful hand of our state, healed the wounds with its strong hand, cried with our people, and thank God, we stood up together again. We did not leave any of our brothers and sisters exposed to disaster. We worked to turn the sadness in their eyes into joy as soon as possible. Therefore, just as our state quickly revived these places yesterday, I hope it will bring our 11 provinces back to life and bring them back to their good old days. “Hopefully, the delivery of our first permanent residences will begin at the beginning of November.” said.
“URBAN TRANSFORMATION IS THE ONLY WAY TO FIGHT EARTHQUAKE”
Emphasizing that urban transformation is the only way to combat earthquakes and make our cities resistant to disasters, Kurum said, “Our President said in 2012; “We will do urban transformation no matter what the cost.” Thank God, the transformation of more than 2 million 200 thousand houses has been completed since the date he said. “The reconstruction of more than 400 thousand houses is ongoing in all 81 provinces and 922 districts.” he explained.
“ISTANBUL WILL BE A MORE LIVABLE CITY IN THE Türkiye CENTURY”
Kurum said, “Unfortunately, Istanbul, the heart of the world, the trust of our civilization, the apple of our country’s eye, is at risk of a major earthquake. We have taken historic steps for the urgent transformation of Istanbul and its ability to become resilient to disasters. In the last five years alone, we have initiated and completed dozens of projects and prepared dozens more. With these thoughts, I believe that Istanbul will be a safer and more livable city in the Turkish Century.” said.
“IN THE GREAT PALESTINE MEETING, WE WILL SAY WITH ONE VOICE, ONE BREATH: “THE WORLD IS BIGGER THAN FIVE”
Referring to the Great Palestine Rally, Kurum stated that our civilization keeps the city and people the same and said, “Our civilization has kept the city and people together and has not separated them from each other. For this reason, the most unique cities and works of art not only in our civilization but also in the history of the world have emerged. At the core of this is the deep respect our civilization has for humanity. We have loved and embraced cities as we love people. Because our civilization has seen every city it has visited as Jerusalem, Mecca and Medina. Of course, when we mentioned Jerusalem here, all of our hearts ached deeply. All of our minds and hearts are with our innocent and helpless Palestinian brothers. I hope the God helps them. We hope that the massacre and genocide will end as soon as possible. Hopefully, next Saturday, at the Great Palestine Rally with the participation of our President, from Istanbul, the capital of the voice of the oppressed throughout history; one voice, one breath “the world is bigger than five.” we will say. he said.
Kurum said, “Our civilization has seen every city as Jerusalem, Mecca and Medina. Jerusalem; holy, Mecca; house, Medina; It means city. In other words, our civilization has seen cities as a sacred house. Because if the city is seen as sacred, adopted as a home and managed as such, happiness will prevail in that city. That’s why our cities should serve this feeling with their buildings, bazaars, squares and roads, they should be built with this feeling, they should be protected and transformed with this belief. Construction and revival processes should not be considered separately from each other. While old buildings are being renovated and new parks, streets and avenues are being built, the historical texture of the city should also be revived. In this context, I would also like to thank you for approaching the historical buildings and artifacts in the earthquake zone with great sensitivity.” said.
Wishing the 18th GYODER Real Estate Summit to be auspicious, the Institution congratulated those who contributed to the production of the Hope Line Documentary, which describes the work done for the reconstruction and revitalization process of the earthquake region.
Following Kurum’s speech, the first screening of the documentary “Hope Line”, which tells about the design processes of cities carried out after the February earthquake, centered in Pazarcık, was held.
Speaking after the screening, GYODER President Mehmet Kalyoncu thanked Murat Kurum for his support and trust in this process.
