Everyone who knocks on the door of the food bank in Montfoort will be helped, at least for the first three months. After that, your financial situation will be specifically examined. All your income will be added up and then fixed costs (rent, energy, sports, etc.) will be deducted from that income. After deducting the fixed costs, an amount remains for groceries and clothing. If that amount is lower or slightly higher than the so-called ‘standard amount’, you will receive help.
Leo Hammendorp: “It is not the case that people who earn more are left out. If you earn two thousand euros but you have a high rent, perhaps still debts and a high energy bill. Then it is quite possible that you will still receive support. We really look at what you have left in your wallet.”
