Minors, as young as 13, who live in a criminal environment will receive help in a new dropout program in Uppsala municipality, reports Sweden’s Radio Ekot.

The new program is aimed at minors who live with a real threat and means that the child may move to a family in sheltered accommodation in another location.

– We have had a dropout activity since two years ago from 18 years and above. But now crime has decreased in age and we see that this need also exists for younger young people, says municipal board chairman Erik Pelling (S) to the radio.
