Hartmann said the game is still in the conceptual phase and that his team is “trying to find the hook” (something that will hook players). “You have to find a new twist, and we’re still in a phase where we really want to figure out, I think, what the hook could be, what the thing that’s different from all the other games on the market is. So it’s a little early,” he said, emphasizing that the game shouldn’t be the same as other MMOs on the market.
Hartmann’s comments make it clear that Amazon Games won’t rush into this project. It seems the company wants to avoid repeating the problems that New World experienced, which initially received a great deal of interest but eventually lost its player base.
