Update Driver flees after vehicle crashes into Port Dover business

Norfolk County OPP is appealing to the public to help identify the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a Port Dover business early Sunday morning.

Officers along with Norfolk County firefighters and paramedic services were sent to the scene of single vehicle collision at 361 Main St., home of 13 Reasons boutique, at about 12:30 am

Upon arrival, police determined that a black 2007 Dodge Charger left the roadway and collided with the building’s exterior causing significant damage.

The driver and a passenger fled the scene on foot prior to police arriving.

The collision caused “a small fire that was quickly extinguished by crews,” Katie Ballantyne, community safety officer with the Norfolk County Fire Department, said in an email to the Reformer.

13 Reasons posted a message on social media about the incident.

“There was an accident and a fire. We are still waiting for information but believe that no one was seriously injured and we are grateful for that. I will be in touch with anyone who has an online order or who is waiting for product to arrive. We will be closed until we can get this all sorted out and appreciate your patience throughout,” said the Facebook post.

Anyone with relevant information about the incident is urged to contact the police at 1-888-310-1122. Those who wish to remain anonymous are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous online tip at www.helpsolvecrime.com to become eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
