Update 7.2.0.4 from September 21st. is here – all patch notes and information

Today, update 7.2.0.4, which was postponed due to the exploit, will be installed in Destiny 2. In addition to a downtime, it will also improve the drop rates of raid essences and bring additional features. MeinMMO tells you when the server downtime begins and how long it will last.

Update history for Update 7.2.0.4:

7:00 p.m.: Destiny update 7.2.0.4 is here and available to download on all platforms. On the PC the file is 108.4 MB.

We have also linked the patch notes for the update further down in the article. First of all, the good news: The drop rates for the Essence of the Oversoul for complete and repeated clearings in the raid “Crota’s End” have now been integrated with this update.

4:15 p.m.: Destiny 2 has been taken offline for update 7.2.0.4 maintenance.

This is what you need to know today: The Bungie Help team has been working hard since the weekend to remove the weapon exploit from the game. For this purpose, weapons and abilities were temporarily deactivated and crafted weapons were freed from unfair advantages.

As a result, however, many error codes are currently still appearing in the game, which some Guardians are attributing to Bungie’s troubleshooting efforts. However, it’s not just the epic crafting bug that causes Destiny 2 error code hiccups.

  • In an official statement from Bungie-Help, it was revealed that in addition to the bug, the Destiny 2 servers were also victims of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks that were unrelated to the ongoing efforts to fix the crafting issue. These attacks have placed additional pressure on systems.
  • In such attacks, a target system is flooded with overwhelming traffic from multiple sources, making it inaccessible to its users and overloaded.
  • Bungie developer David Hostler wrote on Twitter/X: “It’s always frustrating [von Spielern] hearing that “Destiny servers/services suck” when sometimes it’s just a DDoS attack.”

The weapon manufacturing exploit is still partially in the game and the DDoS attacks don’t seem to be over yet, but update 7.2.0.4 is scheduled to go online this Thursday. MeinMMO tells you everything you need to know.

Maintenance on September 21st – All times for server down

These times are important today: Bungie informed players of the exact times via Twitter/X. The planned downtime today is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

This is the exact maintenance schedule:

  • Background maintenance will start on all platforms at 3:00 p.m.
  • The servers go offline around 4:15 p.m. Players are automatically kicked out of the game.
  • During the downtime, Bungie will launch Season 22 Update 7.2.0.4. It will be rolled out gradually so that players on all platforms can download it.
  • At 7:00 p.m. everything should be online again and you can try to log in again.
  • The maintenance will then continue in the background until 9:00 p.m.
  • Important: As long as the background maintenance is running, connection problems may occur in the game from time to time. In addition, there may be login queues after maintenance because Bungie only gradually releases access to the servers to avoid load problems. So you may have to wait longer until you get back into the game.

Also keep in mind that third-party applications and the official Companion app may also not be accessible properly for a while, meaning you won’t be able to use them.

That changes with Update 7.2.0.4 in Season 22

The Crota Grandmaster Raid is finally scheduled to start today.

This will be included in Update 7.2.0.4: Today’s server down for Update 7.2.0.4 will return weapon crafting to mostly expected behavior.

  • Unauthorized crafted weapon frames and perks will be replaced with legitimate ones, and any attempt to craft new weapons that are not permitted will result in the player being redirected to the login screen.
  • With these fixes, Bungie currently feels confident that both the Grandmaster Raid for “Crota’s End” and the new control modifier “Checkmate” cannot be played by Guardians using unfair means.

However, Bungie still has other known issues that need to be addressed:

  • The seasonal challenge “We go round after round” does not count the orbs generated in Gambit.
  • In A Dead Man’s Tale there are double (and false) clues as to how to obtain them.
  • Some weapons from Crota’s ending do not have a consistent firing sound.
  • Some players are unable to complete the Last Will and Testament mission.
  • The description of the Legendary version of the Savathûn’s Pillar activity incorrectly states that matchmaking is available.
  • Player name changes are not infinitely customizable via bungie.net. Several “number guardians” continue to wait for the option to change their player name again instead of receiving the message “You do not have any name changes available”.
  • If you know of any other bugs in the game that are not listed here, please feel free to share them in our comments section.

Patch notes for update 7.2.0.4 in Destiny 2

What’s in the patch notes? Bungie publishes the list of all changes for update 7.2.0.4 in the form of patch notes. However, these will only come online this evening and will then provide a complete overview of all fixed problems and improvements.

As soon as they are released, we will update this article and link the patch notes, as things may change later.

Bungie’s open announcement came as a surprise to the Destiny 2 community. Some expressed gratitude for providing the internal information about the DDoS attack. Other players, however, were discouraged by the persistent disruptions to their gaming evening.

Destiny 2 is fighting on all fronts: first a mega-exploit, then a hacker attack, making gaming almost impossible

What do you say about the message? Do you think it was the right step to disclose the details of the failures in more detail in this case? And what do you think about the DDoS attacks on the servers? Do you think this could be because Bungie “took away their fun weapons” from players? Please tell us your point of view in the comments.
