After an agreement with the government, socialist deputies would have obtained exceptional end-of-year assistance for single-parent families. Between 115 and 200 euros should be paid, in addition to the Christmas bonus. The project must be examined in the Assembly this Wednesday.
This is news that should improve the financial situation of many families as the end-of-year holidays approach. According to information currently known, the deputies of the Socialists and Allies party have agreed on a “agreement in principle” with the government to set up a exceptional Christmas help for precarious single-parent families. In total, almost “600,000 homes” should benefit automatically in December, specifies Minister Aurore Bergé at Releaseif the socialist amendment is voted on.
Between 115 and 200 euros per single-parent family
The amount of this new aid should be staggered “between 115 and 200 euros per household”, under resource conditions. As the socialist amendment, relayed by AFP, indicates: “Four out of ten children raised in a single-parent family live below the monetary poverty line, or 1,063 euros per month, and are therefore poor, as defined by INSEE. The seventh world power cannot leave these single-parent families — for Mostly women (82%) — at the side of the road.”
If the measure sees the light of day, the beneficiaries will receive it in addition to the traditional Christmas bonus. So, if we do the calculations, taking into account the amounts of last year’s Christmas bonus, families could receive:
- Up to 352 euros for a parent living alone without children (152.45 euros Christmas bonus + 200 euros exceptional Christmas assistance);
- Up to 428 euros with 1 dependent child;
- Up to 474 euros with 2 children;
- Up to 535 euros with 3 children;
- Up to 596 euros with 4 children.
The amendment in question must be debated this Wednesday, November 8 in the National Assembly. The cost of this project could amount to 60 million euros.
