Potato canker has been found in potatoes at a producer near Kristianstad. It is the first case in seven years, writes Jordbruksverket in a press release.
Potato canker, which does not make potatoes dangerous to eat, is a fungus and a quarantine pest that can cause major damage in potato crops.
The producer in question is now taking measures to prevent spread. At the same time, tracking is underway to investigate where the infection is coming from and whether more potato fields have been affected.
