The exhibition “Brewed stories”, which was inaugurated on Saturday, depicts the history of beer in Sörmland.
– Sörmland is a very good example of what the brewing industry has looked like in Sweden. In the 19th century, there was a brewery in almost every small town, says Elin Loord, project manager for the exhibition.
Interest in beer has come and gone over the years. For a while, almost all breweries in Sweden disappeared – only to later return. And just like in the past, many people today brew their own beer at home.
Unusual picture
In addition to the producers of beer, the consumers are also depicted in the exhibition. Among the historical images, there are some that stand out – including a picture from the 1910s of women drinking beer. Hear Elin Loord talk about the picture in the clip above.
