Discontent is spreading among China’s elderly – for several days there have been demonstrations in the city of Wuhan in central China.
The pensioners are protesting that the government allowance they receive to cover healthcare costs has been cut.
The protests have spread to several parts of the country in what has been described as a headache for President Xi Jinping’s government – and part of a resurgence of demonstrations in the country.
