SVT Uppsala has previously reported on the low occupancy in the bicycle parking garage at the central station. During Tuesday, the upper floor echoes empty, despite the rain, while the bicycle racks outside are cluttered.
– I don’t understand why more people don’t use the parking garage, it’s nicer to have a dry saddle than to get your butt wet, says Jonas Edin.
To be replaced
This summer, Uppsala Municipality decided on the development plan for the new Uppsala Central Station, which means that the current parking garage will disappear and be replaced by a new one in the future.
– It is a module, so it will not be torn down and thrown away, but moved to another place in the municipality or to another municipality, says Rickard Malmström (MP), chairman of the street and community environment committee.
One of the reasons for the low occupancy is believed to be the cost – SEK 40 per day after the first day – which will now be reviewed.
– It will be adjusted, it is not justifiable to have such a high price, says Rickard Malmström.
