Robin Figren has, among other things, ten seasons in the SHL on the merit list and an SM victory on the merit list. But now the profile says it’s finished playing.
– Until today, hockey has given me everything, he says.
Robin Figren has several seasons in the SHL behind him and during his time became one of the series’ biggest profiles. However, the 34-year-old has spent the last three seasons in Switzerland and EHC Kloten, where he has been one of the team’s top scoring players.
Now ending his career
His contract with the Swiss club expired after the season and now the forward says he is ending his career – 17 seasons after his debut with Frölunda in Sweden’s top league in 2005/06.
– I have lived as a hockey player for 17 years. Being a professional elite athlete is no bed of roses, and after probably 1,000 matches, body and mind start to take their toll, says Robin Figren in the podcast Släpp Sargen.

He continues:
– Sleeping on pizza boxes on the floor of a bus after a 5–2-cod loses its charm after a while.
“Has given me everything”
Robin Figren has accomplished a lot during his time as a hockey professional. The Swede has several matches with Tre Kronor on his merit list, but above all a SM gold with Frölunda in the 2015/16 season.
– Until today, hockey has given me everything. It has given me experiences that many others only dream of. At the same time, it has taught me to be a good comrade and how to stand up for the friend next door, he says.
There is a lot that the 34-year-old will miss from hockey.
– I will miss being able to have a coffee, a snuff, sit and talk shit and gossip with my teammates in the locker room. Having said that, today I have chosen to end my career as a hockey player, says Robin Figren.
