Demonstrations that turned violent began Thursday night in the Irish capital, Dublin, after three young children were stabbed earlier in the day. As a result of the stabbing, two children and one adult required hospital treatment.

Irish police said the attack happened outside the school. After the announcement, at least a hundred people rushed to the streets.

The police said they had sent more than 400 officers to the city center. In addition, police forces protected numerous official buildings.

Demonstrators set fire to vehicles and a tram and damaged police cars. In addition, the protesters looted local shops.

Around 10:30 p.m. local time, the police said the situation had calmed down in the center, reports the Irish Broadcasting Company RTE.
