Unrest among Haitians in Springfield after Trump’s claims

President Biden is now calling on Trump to stop the attacks on Haitian immigrants in Springfield.
The town has found itself in the middle of the American culture war after Trump and his running mate JD Vance spread false claims that Haitians would eat other people’s pets.
I understand if someone decides to move away from Springfield, says Daniel, one of the Haitian immigrants.

The city of Springfield in Ohio has found itself in turmoil and at the center of the debate is the city’s Haitian population.

This after Trump claimed during Monday’s debate, between him and presidential candidate Kamala Harris, that Haitians eat people’s pets.

“In Springfield they eat the dogs. They eat the cats,” he said, which was denied by the debate’s moderators.

Schools remain closed after bomb threats

During the week, schools in Springfield were forced to remain closed after receiving bomb threats, and concern is now growing among Haitians.

– I understand if someone decides to move away from Springfield because of these threats, says Daniel, one of the Haitian immigrants.

Biden: Gotta stop

President Biden is now calling on Trump to stop his claims.

“This has to stop – what he’s doing. It has to stop,” Biden said.

But Trump shows no signs that he will let go of Springfield, on the contrary.

“We’re going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country, and we’re going to start with Springfield,” Trump said.
