Gregg Musgrove, a former police officer, stated that he discovered the tapes in a warehouse that a business partner had recently purchased in the San Fernando Valley. “I listened to these tapes and I got goosebumps,” Musgrove said. Because no one had ever heard of this before. “It was great to hear Michael Jackson actually talk and tell jokes,” he said.
THERE ARE 12 NEW TRACKS IN IT
The warehouse was owned by producer and musician Bryan Loren, who worked with Jackson on his 8th studio album, Dangerous (1991). The tapes contain 12 previously unreleased tracks that Jackson worked on between 1989 and 1991, before his Dangerous album. Also included in these tapes are a song referencing rumors about Jackson’s life and another song in which he raps with LL Cool J.
HE IS HELD IN A SECURE FACILITY
Michael Jackson’s heirs refused to buy the tapes, but sent a letter to Musgrove regarding property rights, stating that they could not share the tapes with the public.
Stating that he plans to take the tapes to auction houses, Musgrove stated that they will most likely be purchased by a Jackson fan or private collector.
The tapes are reportedly not currently in Musgrove’s possession, but are kept in a secure facility under the control of his attorney.
