Unrae 2023 ends in negative for the trailer and semi trailer

(Finance) – The market of trailers And semi-trailers closes 2023 at a loss, consolidating a deficit annual of the 7.3% compared to 2022 and a loss in volume of 1,233 registered vehicles, thanks to a drop in registrations recorded in eight of the past twelve months. The data of December it is the worst of the year, with just 869 units registered compared to 1,316 in 2022 (-34.0%). These are the numbers published by the Studies and Statistics Center ofUNRAE based on the registration data provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT).

Michele Mastagni, Coordinator of the Trailers, Semitrailers and Equipment Group of UNRAE, comments on the market results as follows: “Unfortunately we have to note that the year just ended did not maintain the hoped-for growth forecasts and that the market has suffered the serious consequences of the high cost of financing for businesses, with the towed vehicle sector having to face a sharp drop in demand in recent months”. “While we welcome the recent provision for the recognition of incentives for the renewal of the freight transport vehicle fleet, – continues Mastagni – it is necessary to highlight how these funds are in our opinion largely insufficient to cover the requests for contributions from road haulage companies , in particular those intended for the purchase of trailers and semi-trailers, which usually exhaust the dedicated limit in a few moments from the opening of reservations on the occasion of the so-called click-days”.

“In light of this situation, it is more urgent than ever for the Government to intervene by accepting the proposal jointly, requested on several occasions by UNRAE and other associations in the sector, to establish a multi-year fund dedicated to an extraordinary plan for the modernization of the Italian fleet, which permanently occupies the last positions at European level in terms of seniority”, adds the Coordinator of the Associative Group. “Finally, also in the new year, we reiterate the hope that in the context of the now underway parliamentary examination of the draft enabling law for the reform of the Traffic Laws, our proposal to adapt the art. can be accepted. 61, in order to finally allow the circulation of vehicles with a length of up to 18.75 meters in our country, implementing a regulation that has been waiting for its full application for almost three years”, concludes Mastagni.
