The team behind the largest and most popular GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 roleplaying servers has recently joined Rockstar Games.
The role-playing community in the two Rockstar games GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption has been active for years. The two biggest multiplayer mods are FiveM (from GTA 5) and RedM (from RDR2) and come from the development team Cfx.re.
As our colleagues from GameStar reported, the role-playing game server for GTA 5 was so popular that it surpassed the original game in terms of player numbers on Steam.
Cfx.re is now officially part of Rockstar Games
On August 11, 2023, Rockstar Games announced the incorporation of the development team into the company on their website. In the proclamation it says:
Today we’re proud to announce that Cfx.re – the team behind Rockstar’s largest roleplaying and creator communities FiveM and RedM – is now officially part of Rockstar Games.

We’ve seen the game’s creative community find new ways to extend GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 over the past few years, most notably through the roleplaying servers.
To further support player efforts, the mod guidelines have recently been amended to officially include modifications made by the roleplaying community.
Rockstar Games explained the reason why the gaming company decided to bring the modders on board:
By working with the Cfx.re team, we will help them find new ways to support this incredible community and improve the services they provide to their developers and players.
We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks and months

This suggests that Rockstar wants to actively support the modding community in the future and further expand GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 using the role-playing servers.
Cfx.re also commented on the news in the forum, stating that this is a big step for the growth of the community.
They explain that day-to-day business will continue as usual. With the help of Rockstar, the focus would be on further improving the FiveM and RedM platforms.
A change in GTA 5 in June 2023 caused frustration among many players who then wanted to stop playing the game. But do they really?
