“Unnecessary” feature that annoys car buyers

Unnecessary feature that annoys car buyers

The fact that technological development is moving forward means that our cars are constantly becoming more capable than previous generations.

However, as the cars get more and more finesse and functions, they also become more complicated to use, and not all novelties fall on good soil.

This is according to a new survey carried out by American JD Power.

The feature that annoys car buyers

In JD Power’s survey, it is above all a feature that is not appreciated by the car-buying public.

It’s about more and more cars not only having a screen in the center console and one in front of the driver, but also one in front of the passenger.

The newfangled function, offered by Porsche, Audi, Mercedes and Xpeng, among others, allows the passenger to, for example, control the sound system or view the car’s driving data.

Considered “unnecessary”

The function is classified as “unnecessary” by the respondents in the study, and many also seem to find the screen more annoying than useful.

This is largely due to the fact that there is rarely anyone in the passenger seat, which means that the screen is rarely used.

In addition, many point to problems with the usability of the screen, and believe that it increases complexity. This also means that the dealer has another time-consuming feature to demonstrate when picking up their new car.

Electric cars have a good technical standard

The study also investigated which car manufacturers have the best technical standards according to the owners themselves.

Highest ranked on the 1,000-point scale is Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis with 584 points, followed by Lexus with 535 points and BMW with 528 points.

If you read the fine print, however, you will find that some brands actually scored even higher, but did not make the top list as they did not participate in financing the study. Three electric car brands in particular scored really well, which Alltomelbil.se have noticed.

The brand that received by far the highest score was Tesla with 786 points, followed by Rivian with 666 points and Polestar with 578 points.

Had these brands been included in the official ranking, it would have been enough for a first place for Tesla, a second place for Rivian and a fourth place for Polestar.
