India requires social media services to quickly remove messages that convey false information. If they don’t, India warns of consequences.
The reason for India’s frustration is the constant false bomb threats that plague the country’s air traffic. At least 275 bomb threats have been made against Indian airlines since mid-October, and they have all turned out to be false, says the Indian news agency PTI. According to some media reports, the number would be more than 400.
Threats are often made on social media.
Due to threats, machines have been returned to Canada and Germany, among other things. Fighters have escorted planes in the airspace of Britain and Singapore.
