Diablo 4 offers different levels of difficulty, the world stages. Only 2 of them are available to you from the start. MeinMMO explains how you unlock world levels 3 and 4 and what that brings you.
How do I unlock world tier 3? Complete the Cathedral of Light dungeon in northern Kyovashad. The “Capstone” dungeon is only visible at world level 2 and should be shown to you via quest.
Then visit the World Tier Statue in Kyovashad to complete the quest.
How do I unlock world tier 4? Complete the Crumbling Temple dungeon in the north-east of the Dry Steppes at the Temples of the Great Evils. The entrance is the same as for the final dungeon in the campaign when you face the final boss and is only visible at World Tier 3.
Then visit the World Tier Statue in Kyovashad to complete the quest.

Do I have to finish the campaign? Yes, you will only receive the World Tier 3 quest once you have completed the campaign. You will only receive the World Tier 4 quest once you have unlocked World Tier 3.
Do I have to be level 50? Basically not. But World Tier 3 enemies don’t scale below level 50, so you’ll always have higher level enemies against you. This is one of the factors to level faster, but it can also take time.
The same goes for World Tier 4. Here the enemies don’t scale below level 70, but you can already set the difficulty faster.

World level 3 in Diablo 4 brings you better loot
Why should I play at World Tier 3? Once you reach world level 3, you can eliminate infernal floods in the world. These are part of Diablo 4’s endgame activities and are the best way to get more loot.
In addition, you can only find unique items from world level 3, which are extremely important for many builds. Before that you will only find “normal” Legendaries. In addition, all items can also be “sacred”, which means that they are usually stronger than normal ones.
At World Tier 4, there is another opportunity to find “legacy” items (“Ancestrals”). The values on bequeathed objects are usually even higher than those on holy ones.

When should I play at World Tier 3? As soon as you can easily deal with the opponents. As a rule, it is not worth biting through the enemies with your last ounce of strength and hoping for improvements.
It’s more efficient to slaughter as many enemies as possible in a short amount of time and filter upgrades from the huge loot stack. There you can also decide whether you should sell, use or keep the loot.
As soon as you are sure that you can also take down higher level opponents as quickly as your current enemies, you should switch. From there you will get better equipment and you can prepare yourself for new challenges.
