Sweden is ready for a historic Olympic final in beach volleyball.
The successful duo David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig took a big revenge on Qatar.
Now the blue-yellow feat heroes reveal their unknown stroke of genius that was decisive.
Late on Thursday evening, new Swedish sports history was written during the Summer Olympics in Paris. Swedish hit duo David Ohman and Jonathan Hellvig are ready for the Olympic final in beach volleyball for the first time in Sweden’s history.
Swedish Olympic success
They impressed immensely in the tough semi-final against Qatar, winning in two straight sets. Thus, Åhman and Hellvig took incredibly nice revenge against the group stage where they lost against the Qatari team.

After the feat match, the Swedish heroes now reveal their unknown stroke of genius which may have been absolutely decisive. Because in the group stage, their game faltered and they only finished third after two losses.
Arc yellow stroke of genius
For the Olympic finals, the Swedes needed to find new confidence and then booked an extra training session – together with the Qatar team.
– We felt that we wanted to have a training session before the playoffs so that we could build up our confidence a little after two losses. They were one of those teams that wanted to run. So then it became a training. As always, we run a lot of match play and it was a tough training session. It was fun, Jonatan Hellvig tells Expressen.

And that would really bring results and a much-needed boost.
– It was a lot for our confidence to get back there and feel that we can play well in training there. And bring it with us to the playoffs, says David Åhman in the interview.
– They might regret it now…

But there are no sour faces at Qatar for that and after the semi-final one pays tribute to the player Sheriff Younousse the Swedish team.
– They played significantly better now than when we met them in the group stage. At the same time, the Swedes were a little lucky with certain balls that are needed in a match at this level, he tells the evening newspaper.
– We knew they would change some things, but it was more about us than them. We simply didn’t have the strength to stand up to them, says Younousse.
