Three people were killed on Sunday in a shooting at a university in the Philippine capital, Manila.
Among the victims is a local politician.
The shooting appears to be a targeted killing, according to Philippine authorities.
The incident occurred at the Ateneo de Manila University as law students and their families arrived for a graduation ceremony.
Among the victims is Rose Furigay, a former mayor of a town on the island of Basilan. Her daughter was one of the students at the ceremony.
A person who worked for Furigay and a security guard were also killed in the shooting.
The perpetrator was arrested after an escape attempt.
School and university shootings are rare in the Philippines. On the other hand, targeted assassinations of politicians are relatively common, especially during election periods.
