According to Itai and his fellow protesters, everything a university does and how it positions itself in relation to the war in Gaza should be looked at. “It could be a beautiful study on a certain tree beetle, but if that university also contributes to shooting, surveillance, and bombing people to death in Gaza, then maybe you shouldn’t do research with them because you’re normalizing it,” Itai said.
