University green light to enroll in two courses it was

(Finance) – The bill introducing the possibility of simultaneous enrollment in two different degree courses. The measure, approved in the Chamber in October, received the green light also from the Senate with 178 votes in favor, 5 against and 4 abstentions.

The prohibition to attend two degree courses at the same time dates back to 1933even before the birth of the Constitution which dates back to 1948 and of the Italian Republic which dates back to 1946.

“The approval of this provision represents a great result that allows our country to take a step forward in university education, in line with the international context”, said the Minister of the University. Maria Cristina Messaadding “in this way we guarantee young people to have this option too”.

The passed law now allows being able to enroll in several degree courses at the same time (master’s or master’s degree) also in different universities, schools or institutes superior to special order or even a two academic diploma courses, first or second level, at the institutions of higher artistic, musical and dance training. Stay excluded on the other hand, simultaneous enrollment in two degree courses belonging to the same class or in courses of medical specialization.

Within 60 days the Minister of University and Research, after consulting the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities (Crui), the National University Council (Cun) and the National Council of University Students (Cnsu), will adopt a specific decree to regulate methods and criteriaalso taking into consideration the courses that require compulsory attendance.
