Every day, for a whole summer, the craftsman Olle Blind from Dårajávrre worked to complete the belt that is currently on display in Jokkmokk. To make the belt, he has only used hand tools.
– I had a fine-toothed handsaw, rasp, file and some sandpaper – those were my tools, says Olle Blind on Sámi Duodji’s social media.
Make success
The belt has been on public display since Jokkmokk’s market in February. But it has also attracted a lot of attention on social media.
– We have actually received close to 100 thousand views on social media, so the belt is appreciated to say the least, says Juhán Niila Stålka, marketing coordinator at Sámi Duodji.
Not for sale
And many have wanted to buy the belt, but it is not for sale.
– He wants to keep that himself, and I think he is right about that, says Stålka.
