(Finance) – Unione Italiana Food welcomes the hypothesis of a VAT cut on basic food items, being examined by the government and affirms that it would contribute to “lighten the shopping cart of Italian families in such a dramatic moment as the one we are experiencing”.
THE pasta makers Italians in particular they see positively the hypothesis of a zeroing of VAT on pasta being studied in these hours. “It would be excellent news for Italian pasta and especially for consumers, who today are struggling to buy even basic necessities”, comments Riccardo Felicetti, President of the Italian Pasta makers of Unione Italiana Food.
However, the pasta supply chain he would also need other helpin particular of a cut of excise dutiessince the cost of energy has literally flown in the last year with a 500% increase accompanied by a 50% increase in fuels.
“The possible zeroing of VAT would be a good reportand for families and could also have positive effects for farmers and the processing industry “, explains Felicetti, hoping that the government will also evaluate direct measurements to support businesses such as cut of excise duties on energy“.
