Unioncamere, Priest: lost 130,000 youth businesses in 10 years

Unioncamere Priest lost 130000 youth businesses in 10 years

(Finance) – In just over 10 years in Italy have disappeared about 130 thousand businesses led by under 35 (-20%), especially in the Centre-South. So today youth companies are just 8.7% of our entrepreneurial fabric. This was underlined by the president of Unioncamere, Andrew Priestin his speech at the National Conference of the Chambers of Commerce “Designing tomorrow with courage” in Florence in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

“There is no future without an environment conducive to new generations – added Priest -. We need to make it easier for young entrepreneurs to transform ideas into productive realities: guarantee the freedom to initiative economic it is a constitutionally protected value. On these points, the chamber system can and intends to do a lot, to help young people set up on their own, guiding them already during their schooling and then helping them to put their projects into practice”. “Today we are called to plan the future and to do so everyone’s energies need to be involved. We will have to make courageous choices, for which we will take responsibility”.

The misalignment Between training And world of work generates a considerable mismatch between labor supply and demand. Excelsior’s information system Unioncamere And Anpal indicates that the difficulty of finding professional figures increased from 26% in 2019 to 40% in 2022. A waste, which costs more than companies in terms of added value 30 billion a year. Above all, the profiles are missing Stem, the most requested by the market. A fact that particularly penalizes women, who are less inclined to choose these addresses. it is necessary to stimulate and encourage entrepreneurial initiatives led by women, and the new enabling technologies are precious allies for this challenge.

Exports And tourism – underlines Unioncamere – they are fundamental driving forces of the Italian economy. However, small businesses have greater difficulties and are less and less present abroad. This element is likely to weaken the tissue productive Italian as well as the competitiveness of the whole country. The Chambers of Commerce, together with the network of Italian Chambers abroad – promoters of Italianism in the world – can make the difference, because they are able to accompany small businesses along the paths ofinternationalization. Therefore, it is necessary to remove a provision of a few years ago which reduced the possibility of the Chambers to operate on this front, in order to bring about 45,000 companies that are potential exporters to international markets, with an estimated growth of about 40 billion in exports .

“The Chambers of Commerce they are themselves intermediate bodies in the pluralism of democracy which ensure civil and economic participation. They are institutions of connection between the State and the market, between the local and the global in the sign of the subsidiarity referred to in our Constitution”, recalled President Prete, underlining that “the next few years will be crucial for all of us. The relevant resources made available by the PNRR, from European programs and funds and from the market make the goal of getting out of the low growth of the past decades within our reach”.

“It is therefore necessary to involve the micro, the small and medium enterprises of the country to the greatest extent possible; facilitate the flow of financial resources towards valid investment projects; strengthen the level of managerial skills necessary in such a complex context; support aggregations, strengthening and growth of small and medium-sized businesses in a more advanced balance between sustainability and competitiveness. it is an authentic country project for which the Chambers of Commerce are applying to play a key role and act as a pivot, thanks to the territorial proximity, the experiences gained, the wealth of data and knowledge at their disposal”, concluded the president of Unioncamere.
