Dwayne Johnson rarely holds back when making big announcements. Before the theatrical release of his DC blockbuster Black Adam, the star promised nothing less than a change in the entire hierarchy of the superhero universe. The 2022 film flopped at the box office.

Now a new video has surfaced of the actor in which Johnson talks about Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. He has only now made up for the film with the highest Oscar award in the IMAX cinema. The experience once again motivated him to make a grandiose announcementfor which it is dismantled directly on the network.

In the video, The Rock talks about the fact that he specifically chose the place in the large IMAX hall where Nolan himself prefers to watch his films. Oppenheimer on the largest possible screen promptly reminded him of his own current blockbuster Red One – Christmas Alert. If this were also shown on an IMAX screen, that would be a “Game Over” for the film industry:

The new The Rock blockbuster was filmed for Amazon Prime on a budget of $250 million. The film is currently showing in cinemas before it starts streaming, but is not being shown everywhere. The box office result therefore does not provide a clear result as to whether the film was commercially successful or failed.

In any case, the box office numbers so far are not exciting. Either way, Red One is a long way from Oppenheimer’s success with almost a billion dollars at the global box office.

The Christmas action comedy starring Johnson currently only has a low average of 36 percent on the US review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Nolan’s last blockbuster achieved a significantly higher average of 93 percent.
