UNICEF: The hopes of the Gazaborn have been crushed after the air strikes

The night before Tuesday, Israel conducted at least 35 different flight attacks against several different cities on the Gaza Strip.

According to the UN Children’s Rights Organization UNICEF, over 130 children have been killed, making it the deadliest day for children in Gaza in over a year.

Rosalia Bollen, spokesperson for UNICEF, says that the children in Gaza went through 15 months of brutal and traumatizing war.

– The ceasefire gave the children a small respite and an opportunity to recover. Everything is gone, Rosalia tells SVT from UNICEF’s office outside Rafah.

The ceasefire ended

The almost two -month ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has thus ended. Israel has motivated the air strikes by Hamas refusing to release everyone from the hostage.

The ceasefire meant that UNICEF could help more people around Gaza. Since March 2, however, all transport into Gaza has been blocked.

– These air strikes and the blockade of emergency aid have very quickly eradicated the progress we made during the first six weeks of the ceasefire, as we really managed to scale up and get emergency assistance. The Gazaborn’s hope has been completely crushed, says Rosalia Bollen.
