Anyone looking for excessive action is usually at the right place at Michael Bay. The director of blockbusters like Transformers and Bad Boys – Harte Jungs left his mark gigantic explosions, wild cutting thunderstorms and color-oversaturated images so strong that at some point his style could easily be parodied.
In recent years, however, Bay has once again taken his handwriting to such absurd heights that most Action movies are ordinary and unspectacular in comparison Act. The best proof of this is Bay’s latest blockbuster, which unfortunately flopped in cinemas. With Sky’s streaming service WOW you can now stream Ambulance as a subscription. *

In Ambulance, Michael Bay does a full-film showdown
In the film’s plot, war veteran William Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and his adoptive brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal) rob a bank because Will is desperate $231,000 for his wife’s surgery needs.
The plan unsurprisingly goes awry and the brothers escape in a stolen ambulance, which still houses paramedic Cam Thompson (Eiza González). She becomes the brothers’ hostage in a breathless chase through Los Angeles.
The director only needs 20 to 25 minutes for this minimum of story. Then comes the rest of the 136-minute film a single, drawn-out showdown. What other action blockbusters save for the finale, Bay stages as restless, excessive chaos in overlength.
In addition to the speed of the ambulance, Bay creates a lot of cuts and the racing, whirling camera unbelievable stress level of action and tension.
According to Box Office Mojo, Ambulance played with a budget of $40 million worldwide only $51 million and is therefore a heavy flop. But the film didn’t deserve that, because compared to the last Fast & Furious parts, Ambulance is excessive chaos in the most positive way, which still doesn’t need cars flying to the moon for incredible set pieces. Just a wacky action visionary like Michael Bay.
