Unfortunate defeat Eemdijk against Flevo Boys: ‘It has to be a bit sharper’

Unfortunate defeat Eemdijk against Flevo Boys It has to be

EEMDIJK – Eemdijk missed the opportunity to take the lead in the Dutch big league. It suffered its third defeat of the season at home against Flevo Boys (2-3).

Jesper van Dalen was dangerous for Eemdijk after twelve minutes. He tried with a marker, but keeper Winand Quartel was able to process the ball into a corner. Eemdijk kept looking for the attack. Moments later it was Frank Heus who shot into the hands of the goalkeeper.

It remained one-way traffic at Sportpark de Vinken. After the forced substitution of the injured Freek van Belzen van Eemdijk, Sjohn van Gullik made it 1-0 in the 31st minute. He headed in flawlessly from a free kick by Argjend Selimi.

Barely five minutes later, the goal seemed to repeat itself identically, but then the ball was cleared from the line. Flevo Boys did not leave it at that. Thomas Potters lunged hard, but hit the post.

Two goals within a minute

It didn’t stop with those warnings, because just before half time Flevo Boys equalized. Kelt Jager gave the last tap. Eemdijk did not give up and immediately took the lead again. A bet by Frank Heus was changed direction by a Flevo Boys player and ended up in the goal. Thus ended an exciting first half.

In the second half, Eemdijk again failed to hold onto the lead. Yumé Ramos equalized in the 49th minute.

Eemdijk has to continue with ten men

Both teams were still close to a goal, but the 2-2 failed to materialize. Eemdijk had to survive the last seven minutes with ten men. Bas Buimer injured his knee just after trainer Willem Romp had used up his last substitution. That bad luck killed Eemdijk. Ramos nodded his second goal of the afternoon at the far post two minutes before time. 2-3 turned out to be the final score in Eemdijk.

Eemdijk has 30 points from 15 matches. With a win, it would have been the new leader, as leader Genemuiden lost 3-1 to Urk, which is now the new number one in the Dutch big league. RKAV Volendam also dropped points with a 3-2 defeat against AZSV and drops to fourth place.

We need to see that it needs to be a little sharper

Eemdijk trainer Willem Romp

The defeat against Flevo Boys hit trainer Willem Romp hard. “If you look at how you play well for weeks, are busy with the top spots and then run into a soap twice, then that’s not what you expect in advance, no”. Romp really blames his players. “Of course the opponent did very well, but we were warned in advance. At 2-2 someone wants to get a ball under his foot in midfield. Then you are not completely wise in my opinion. We then also fail to to make it 3-2. Then we were unlucky that we exchanged to win and Bas Buimer was injured. Then we also had to continue with ten men.”
