Armed with mosquito repellent, you can therefore feel a little calmer, but it is also important to know where the ticks are.
The new study from Södertörn University shows that a large number of ticks live in Sweden’s big cities – something that was previously unknown.
During the study, the researchers randomly selected 47 areas in Stockholm County where they systematically searched for ticks.
In connection with the discovery, the reporter visited Anneli Megner Arn News morningto explain why ticks thrive in urban environments.
– You are not safe in parks close to the city, and although there are more ticks in forest areas far outside the city, they are also found in parks close to the city, she says in the program.
Anneli Megner Arn believes that it is a new discovery, but points out that the ticks may have been in parks for a long time. What is surprising, however, is the amount of ticks.
– Then ticks become more and more common due to climate change. They are becoming more and more even in the cities. It is also because there are host animals there, such as rats, rabbits, even foxes. They have everything they need in our parks close to the city, she says News morning.
