Sports holiday, lots of snow and sleet outside. Then the pollen season starts in Västerbotten.
In southern Sweden, spring is well on its way, both the alder and hazel seasons are underway, as in several other countries.
Umeå University started measuring pollen last week. Winds have meant that the first traces of alder have already been found in Västerbotten.
– If you are sensitive to pollen, you may need treatment already now, says Christos Katrantsiotis, researcher at Umeå University, who manages the pollen measurement on the university’s roof.
