Hanna Öberg and Sebastian Samuelsson are two of our top biathletes.
But must now receive clear criticism – from a most unexpected direction.
– Sorry, but they are not good shooters, says para-athlete Anna Benson to Expressen.
Right now the para-athlete is preparing Anna Benson to go to the Paralympics in Paris. The 40-year-old is one of the major medal candidates after winning silver in Tokyo four years ago, winning WC gold and setting a new Swedish record in the 50 meter air rifle prone.
Criticism of biathlon
She is one of the world’s top para shooters and opens up about the great difficulty of sport shooting. Where the dot to be hit is really small, from ten meters it is only half a millimeter and from 50 meters it is like a pupil.

Now Benson also directs clear and unexpected criticism towards our Swedish biathletes.
– It is very provocative. Especially when you can’t explain how small the margins are. That’s how they say: “The biathletes hit…”. Yes, but the biathlon dots are huge. Sorry, but we think they are great skiers, but they are not good shooters. I’m not going to sweep down the biathletes. They are good shooters, but not good “shooters”, says Anna to Expressen.
Öberg and “Sebbe”
The Paralympics medal race is going hard Hanna Öberg, Sebastian Samuelsson and all other Swedish biathletes. She thinks they need to train significantly more shooting than they do today.
– You think that maybe they should focus a little more on shooting and learn a little more about shooting so that maybe the box screws weren’t screwed on as well, says Benson in the interview.

The 40-year-old also answers the question of how she herself would fare in biathlon.
– Well, it’s a completely different sport. Yes, I would have shot full if I had been allowed to have my stuff. Yes, my God. Their dot is this big (shapes hands into a circle) when standing. I also shoot from 50 meters and I will hit a pupil, standing, without support. They have a head to aim at, says Anna to the evening newspaper.
