Jesper Bratt had an incredible season.
Now he can leave the New Jersey Devils.
The Swede is not even said to be close to a new contract.
Jesper Bratt has long been considered a player with enormous potential, and in the New Jersey Devils he has gained a lot of trust and people have really believed in the Swede. And the last season really came a huge boost, and Bratt really showed what capacity he possesses.
Incredible season
His previous best-scoring record in the NHL was 35 points, but during the winter he struck a staggering 73 (!) Points in 76 games. It is thus a points record of 38 points, and also in a team that has not directly dominated the league.
Extra fitting came canon seasons for Bratt given that he is actually on an expiring contract. In other words, it is high for Bratt to negotiate a new one, but if one is to believe information in North America, there are some problems with that particular puck. According to journalist Kevin Weekes, Bratt and Devils are not even close to a new contract.
Can change teams
Bratt is a restricted free agent, so should the contract expire he is not allowed to go to any club he wants. The Devils thus still have the rights to him, and if Bratt is to seek further action, a trio is required for the new club to release him. The Devils are not directly favorites to win the Stanley Cup next year, and it may well be that he wants a team that can challenge for the Stanley Cup title.
Just a month ago, the New Jersey Devils themselves were clear and concerned that Bratt would extend his contract, and it was said, among other things, that it was “top priority to get him on a long-term contract”. Jesper Bratt has been noted for 203 points in 307 NHL games.
