Since then, “Ibra” has worked as an adviser to Milan.
But now he has to receive clear criticism for his decisive role in the club.
It was a year ago as the eternal man Zlatan Ibrahimovic had enough and ended his playing career. By then he had become 41 years old and his body could no longer keep up with the high tempo required to play at the absolute top level.

In the last years as a footballer, Zlatan became a strong and important voice in the dressing room, especially at Milan when he led the team to the Serie A title in the 2021/22 season. Directly after his playing career, it also came as no surprise that “Ibra” remained in Milan and in the club’s organization.

Zlatan was given a great sporting responsibility in a tailor-made role as advisor to Milan’s owner RedBird. The Swedish football legend gives his valuable opinions on both new acquisitions and how the club should act in the long term.
Criticism of “Ibra”
New tasks will be to find a new head coach after the current one Stefano Pioli which is rumored to be gone after the end of the season. But despite his important role, Zlatan has remained in the background and has not been seen at all in public contexts or as a spokesperson for the Serie A club.

Now the Swede receives clear criticism from one of the club’s great icons. The former world hill Alessandro Costacurta questions Zlatan’s role in Milan.
– He could be a little clearer or a little more prominent. But just because you know the dressing room does not necessarily mean that you know everything… And as far as I know, it has been noticed on several occasions, says the Italian in an interview with the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Costacurta thinks that Zlatan should act more as an advisor to help the club and also the players.
– On television, I have often had to listen to ordinary players, but never strong personalities like (Mike) Maignan or (Rafael) Leão. Zlatan could push them to take responsibility externally. Or introduce yourself, because when Ibra talks, trivial things are rarely said, says the big back in the interview.
Milan finishes this season in second place in Serie A, almost 20 points behind league champions and arch-rivals Inter.
