What will happen to Russian athletes in Russia?
Armand Duplantis has had his say on the sensitive issue.
But now the Swedish world star is receiving criticism for his answer.
Increasingly, there are indications that Russian and Belarusian athletes may return to the world of sports again. After a debated issue that affected the entire sports world last year, the Summer Olympics in Paris 2024 can welcome back the ported athletes again.
Duplantis provides answers
Many have expressed their great dissatisfaction with a decision to welcome back Russians and Belarusians again, but nothing has yet been taken. Several Swedish athletes have been active in the debate and even threatened a boycott if Russian athletes were to return and compete again while the nation’s war against Ukraine continues.

The biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson and the cross-country skier Lynn Svahn are two of those who raised their voices for the absurdity of the ported athletes being allowed to return. Recently got the Swedish pole vault star Armand Duplantis give their response to the infected situation.
Criticism of Mondo
Then “Mondo” responded by not taking a stand at all with the words: “It’s complicated. I’m not that interested in politics and I’m not in the know”. Now the 23-year-old has to receive criticism for his way of answering by not answering at all about the Russia issue.

Dagens Nyheter’s columnist Johan Esk calls it a “sarcastic response” and hopes that more athletes will not do as Duplantis did.
“Armand “Mondo” Duplantis was asked if he thought Russians should be allowed to participate in the Olympics and replied: “I don’t know”. He added that the issue is complicated and that he is too poorly informed. After profiles took a stand on various issues and then landed wrong, the answer will become a new old trend among athletes,” he writes in his column for DN.
