The UN’s cultural agency Unesco has adopted a resolution to increase safety for researchers and strengthen academic freedom, Vetenskapsradion reports.
The decision was taken during Unesco’s general meeting on Thursday with the reason that threats and hatred against scientists are increasing around the world, while science-based decision-making is becoming increasingly important.
– It requires that there is a safe and free environment to work in, says Ulrika Björkstén, adviser to Sweden’s Unesco delegation to Vetenskapsradion.
