Nour Kandil fled the war in Syria and came to Sweden – where she started her own food truck and sold Syrian food.
On Thursday, she woke up from a conversation that both of her food carts had burned down.
– I just want to work and I fight to live a normal life like others, says Nour Kandil.
Nour Kandil, 39, from Kristianstad has had to devote a large part of his passion to his job. Cook in the traditional Syrian way.
Five years ago, Nour left war-torn Syria and, like so many other Syrian refugees, came to Sweden.
She says she was looking for a job and when the corona pandemic hit, it became even more difficult. Instead, Nour took matters into her own hands and started her own business – a food truck and where she herself cooked traditional Syrian food.
Later, Nour decided to move its business to Arkelstorp outside Kristianstad. The reason was that she wanted a more stable place, which she could not get in Kristianstad.
– Everything I needed for the job was there. And it was the happiest day of my life after I left my homeland, says Nour.
“Do not know if I can work now”
Nour Kandil says that she enjoyed her work and liked the people in Arkelstorp who she describes as very nice.
One week ago, Nour bought a new food cart, something she was looking forward to doing. Just two days after she bought it, she received a call from the landowner – the new food cart and her previous food cart had burned down.
Nour was devastated and describes it as one of the worst days of her life.
– I do not know if I can continue working now, says Nour.
A report of damage by fire has been made, writes Kristianstadsbladet.
Does not feel safe
Nour says that many residents of Arkelstorp have shown sympathy.
– They have told me that I should not despair and that I am welcome, says Nour.
But she feels disappointed.
– I just want to work and I fight to live a normal life like others. But I also want to feel safe, but I do not do that now, says Nour.
Nour says that she feels disappointed and that she does not feel safe.
