The electric cable Estlink 2, which runs between Finland and Estonia, has suddenly stopped working, writes Finnish IltaSanomat.
“An investigation into the disturbance has been initiated,” writes the grid operator Fingrid.
The grid operator Fingrid states that a fault occurred on the underwater cable Estlink 2 at 12:26, Finnish time, and that they are now investigating what has happened.
– Sabotage cannot be ruled out, states Fingrid’s spokesperson Arto Pahkin Howlwhile he points out that this type of problem happens relatively often.
– We have experienced something similar about ten times this year, says Pahkin.
On X Prime Minister Petteri Orpo writes that the disconnection does not affect the electricity supply in Finland.
There is currently no forecast for when the cable can be in use again.
In November, two underwater cables were damaged in the Baltic Sea, one between Finland and Germany and the other between Sweden and Lithuania.
