Underrated Marvel reboot that we lost way too soon

After the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire fell apart, Sony wasted no time in making a Reboot of the popular Marvel hero to put in position. Five years after the Maguire finale with Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man hit theaters and introduced us to a new Peter Parker.

We now know that the Spidey reboot starring Andrew Garfield didn’t have a long life. It was already over after a sequel, although a much larger universe was planned. Such a thankless end definitely didn’t deserve director Marc Webb’s underrated series.

Of course, for Sony, it was all about the money and maintaining a brand. And no, The Amazing Spider-Man didn’t become a groundbreaking Marvel blockbuster either. What sets the film apart is with how much sensitivity he combines the larger-than-life superhero story with the coming-of-age elements.

Even if Garfield’s Spider-Man likes to make cheeky jokes, there is a sensitive boy hiding behind the mask, who is afraid of the decisive question of responsibility, which Maguire accepts fairly quickly in his films. Curiosity and being overwhelmed alternate every minute in The Amazing Spider-Man.

Garfield’s casting is brilliant, as is Emma Stone’s as Gwen Stacey. Webb introduces the characters of the two in this way light-footed as sensitive togetherlike after 500 Days of Summer he just shot another rom-com in a high school setting that just happened to have something to do with a spider bite.
