Undercut traffic in Vianen tackled: 200 fines per week

Undercut traffic in Vianen tackled 200 fines per week

How does the sneak ban work?

During the evening rush hour there was always a lot of cut-through traffic from the A2 (via Vianen and Lexmond) to the A27. To prevent this, there are now several places where there are no-entry signs in several places. Cut-through traffic is no longer allowed to pass through these areas between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Cameras scan all license plates. Anyone who drives past the camera without an exemption – for example residents and employees of companies – will receive a fine of 129 euros. The goal? Ensuring that motorists use the highway.

About 35,000 exemptions have been granted to residents, entrepreneurs and other people with a good reason to “sneak” through Vianen. An average of 10 day exemptions are granted every day, which people can apply for for 3 euros.
