Heavy downpour caused landslides and flooding on the E45 at the height of Lilla Edet on Sunday and the road was closed.
A 14 kilometer stretch is to be inspected on Monday, but it is unclear when the road can open to traffic again, reports P4 Väst.
– We expect the water to recede by tomorrow and sometime during the day tomorrow we can give more information, said Karin Hedemalm, acting press manager at the Swedish Transport Administration to the radio on Sunday evening.
